I'm a student, not a guru

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

I recently read the book: "Anything You Want" by Derek Sivers, and I came across this quote that I strongly agree with and always abide by.

I have always believed learning is a never-ending journey. If you stop learning, you stop growing.

Look at the most successful people around the world; they don't act like they know everything. Instead, they understand that they have to continue learning to be more successful.

Reasons you should keep learning:

1. There are always some new skills to learn or techniques for us to adopt.

2. There comes a time when you might consider your work as a chore, no matter how much you love what you do, and learning is what keeps the passion alive over the long run.

3. The inspiration for your next big idea can come from anywhere. And if you really want the inspiration to strike, commit to learning something new every day.

4. If you want to be interesting, you have to be interested first! The more you learn, the more topics you'll be able to talk about.

And if you are a leader of your organization, you need to make learning a part of your routine. Read books, listen to podcasts, stay updated with the news, or follow any influencer who can expose you to new concepts.

Start by learning yourself, then start teaching others and sharing what you've learned over time.

Be such a great teacher that your organization can run itself even in your absence.

So, what have you learned recently?
